“Writing on PTSD, Moral Injury, and the Echoes We Carry”

B. M. Lee is a Marine Corps veteran whose writing is shaped by lived experience, quiet battles, and the long road of healing after war. His work blends raw reflection with grounded storytelling, giving voice to the unseen weight so many carry but rarely speak about.

He is the author of Between the Echoes: The Reality of PTSD, its companion workbook, and the fiction title Chasing Echoes: Between Shadow and Silence. His newest release, Valuing Echoes: Holding Your Center, continues his mission to explore identity, resilience, and the deeper meaning we pull from the moments that shape us.

Across both nonfiction and fiction, Lee’s writing is direct, unpolished in the best way, and rooted in honesty, meeting readers where their own echoes live.

Outside his books, B. M. Lee leads workshops on communication, values, and leadership through Skilled Development LLC, helping others grow with clarity and intention.

My Story

I never planned on becoming an author. Writing started as a way to wrestle with the weight I carried after my time in the Marine Corps, the memories, injuries, and moments that never fully let go. For years, those battles stayed silent until I realized that putting them into words might help me, and maybe help someone else feel a little less alone.

Between the Echoes: The Reality of PTSD and its companion workbook grew out of that first step, offering an honest look at life with PTSD, moral injury, and the long road of healing.

From there, the journey expanded. Through fiction in Chasing Echoes: Between Shadow and Silence, I continued exploring the same truths from a different angle, identity, loyalty, moral injury, and the gray spaces many veterans live in.

My newest release, Valuing Echoes: Holding Your Center, brings things back to the personal. It focuses on grounding, identity, and the values we hold onto when life gets loud. It’s a quieter book, but one that carries just as much weight.

My hope is simple: that these words remind others they aren’t alone, and that even in the darkest echoes there is still something worth carrying forward. And this is only the beginning, I’m still writing, still digging deeper, with more stories and reflections already taking shape.

Book Five- Untitled

What begins as a father reminiscing with his son about childhood games and orange groves slowly turns into something more. The stories passed down, once thought of as simple fisherman’s tales, hold truths the son never expected. In these memories, laughter and loss, innocence and war, blur together, revealing that the echoes of the past are never just pretend.

Fiction Project – Untitled (“Lucky”)

Set deep in the Korengal Valley, this story follows Lucky, a former Marine turned contractor whose sense of humor is as dark as the terrain he moves through. What begins as another routine mission unravels into a study of loyalty, violence, and the blurred morality of men who have seen too much and keep going anyway.
Through Lucky’s fractured lens, the line between duty and damage fades, revealing that some battles never end; they just change names.

Beneath Us

What begins as a simple sinkhole on a quiet Florida property turns into a story about what lies under the surface, literally and within ourselves. Beneath Us blends grounded realism with a slow-burn sense of tension as everyday life collides with the unexpected. Inspired by true events, this project explores responsibility, family, the weight we carry, and the unseen things that shape us. Part reflection, part adventure, and part what-if, it follows the strange, unsettling, and sometimes humorous moments that happen when the ground gives way and what rises to the surface because of it.
